Turn on that radio, as loud as it can go

For this week’s quote I chose ‘Turn on that radio, as loud as it can go’ from the song ‘Play my music’ sung in ‘Camp rock’ by the Jonas brothers.

Radio1

For my background I used a pink deco art acrylic paint on my right hand side page and on the left hand side used the same paint but made it darker by adding pink cosmic shimmer shimmer paint. On my right hand side page I dabbed white gesso with a sponge through a diamond Tim Holtz stencil and then I used modelling paste through a dragonfly stencil from That’s crafty on top to add texture. On the left hand side I decided to do the opposite and used white gesso through my dragonfly stencil and modelling paste through my diamond stencil. Once it had dried I used my American craft’s music stamp with archival ink all over both of the backgrounds to correspond with the theme of the quote and then used a script stamp from Finnabair over parts of the background to add additional texture.

For my main page I drew out a radio on watercolor paper with pencil and outlined it with my graphix black pen. I used my aqua spectrum watercolor pens in a pink to go with the background and then dried the water with my heat gun when wet to create a special effect. I used my signo white gel pen and graphix black pen to decorate the radio, creating triangle patterns. I used my American crafts metallic pens to add dots and finishing touches. I then used my aqua spectrum watercolor pens in pinks and purple on a piece of watercolor paper and used the same water effect as I did on the radio. I then drew out nine music notes in different sizes and outlined them with my black graphix pen, I then used the music stamp I used for the background over the music notes using black archival ink.

For my quote backing I cut off the edges to a piece of watercolor paper and colored it by using a pink and white dylusions spray. I then used white gesso through my dragonfly stencil and stamped onto it with my music stamp and script stamp like I did the main background. I then colored a separate piece of paper with a light pink watercolor and went over it with deco art glitter paint. I stamped on the words with my dovecraft letter stamps using archival ink and then cut the words out separately but making the word radio stand out by cutting that words letters out individually. I then outlined the words with black graphix pen and white signo gel pen, using one color after the other. I then decided to draw two radio microphones to go next to the quote. I outlined them with black graphix pen and colored them in my aqua spectrum watercolors, drying them when wet to create the effect I used on my radio and music notes. I used my black graphix pen and white signo gel pen to add the triangle details like I did on the radio and used the metallic pens to add dots. I also created triangles to go above the microphones as if sound was coming from the microphone, again adding dots.

As a finishing touch I outlined everything in white signo gel pen and used my butterfly shape cutter with some colored scrap paper over both pages and added metallic dots onto them with my metallic pens
