I harnessed the breeze

This week I decided to do another disney lyric and chose the lyric ‘I harnessed the breeze’ from the song ‘You’re welcome’ sung by Dwayne Johnson in the new Disney film Moana.

For the background of my work I painted it with three blue acrylic paints from liquitex, blending them together to create a night sky color. I used modelling paste through a dylusions star stencil to add texture to my background. When the modelling paste dried I used American crafts metallic pens to color them in silver and gold metallic color. I then used my tim holtz star clear stamp with my white teardrop ink pad to stamp stars all over the background.

For my main page I drew big gusts of wind. I sketched the wind and then used my Graphix black pen to outline it. I used my spectrum aqua pens to watercolor the wind. I used three blue colors and blended them together for one of the winds and then used two pinks and a purple color and blended them together for the other wind. I then outlined my winds again and added swirls to them to add to the effect of them being wind. I made some of the wind thicker than others and tried to make them all look quirky and different. I then used my tim holtz star stamp with black ink to stamp stars over the wind I drew to go with the background.

For my quote page I sprayed a piece of watercolor paper with a dark blue dylusions spray and then used modelling paste through a letters tim holtz stencil to create texture on the background of my quote. I then colored a separate piece of watercolor paper with blue watercolor and used dovecraft letters with black ink to stamp the quote. I cut out the letters individually and used the side of my archival ink pad to border the words and then used my tim holtz star stamp with black ink to stamp stars around the words and on the background of my quote. I then drew six small winds like the two on my main page. I colored them with my spectrum aqua pens and blended the colors together, coloring with three colors that were similar and using water over the ink to turn them into watercolor and blend them. I outlined them with my graphix black pen again and did the same swirls that I did on my big winds to the small ones. I then used the clear tim holtz star stamp to stamp stars over the small winds too.

As a finishing touch I used my signo white gel pen to draw swirls all over both of my pages to signify wind and I used my signo white gel pen to go all around my quote to highlight it.
