Hoppin’ down the bunny trail

My quote for this week was ‘Hoppin’ down the bunny trail’ from the song ‘Here comes Peter Cottontail’ for Easter although it was a few days ago!

For my background I painted it with light green liquitex acrylic paint. I used Viva Decor glitter paste through a flower stencil to add texture. I then dabbed white gesso with a sponge through a small butterfly stencil on some parts of the background.  I then used a butterfly and small flower stamp from my ArtC stamp set, a bee wooden stamp, a butterfly stamp from paper parachute and a dragonfly from my Inkadinkado insect stamp set with black archival ink all over the background, layering some of the stamps over my glitter paste. I then used white modelling paste through my dragonfly stencil in places where there was empty space.

For my main page I cut out a wavy piece of watercolor paper and painted it black with liquitex acrylic paint. I then drew bricks on with my Signo white gel pen and colored in the bricks with my Uni-ball signo metallic gel pens. I then drew four paws on a piece of watercolor paper, and colored them pink with my aqua spectrum watercolor pens. Once it had dried I colored the paws in with my paperchase glitter pens, each a different color and made dots all around the paws with my American crafts metallic pens. I then stamped over the paw with my ArtC butterfly stamp using archival ink. I then drew two bunny ears and two half Easter eggs, using my aqua spectrum watercolor pens to color them, making one set of Easter egg and bunny ears orange and the other purple. Once they had dried I used my black pen to create patterns on the bunny ears and the eggs, matching the egg patterns with the bunny ear pattern to go with their matching color. I then colored in the designs with my paperchase glitter pens and drew dots with my American crafts metallic pens and then on the ears drew patterns with my white signo gel pen.

For my quote page I cut out another piece of wavy watercolour paper. I drew the bricks with my back pen and then colored in the bricks with my Uni-ball signo glitter gel pens. I then drew two ears and two easter eggs like I did on my other page. I colored them in blue and red with my watercolor pens and did different designs on them but still made sure that the egg corresponded with the bunny ears. For the quote I colored a piece of watercolor paper in a pink watercolor using my spectrum aqua watercolor pens. I then stamped the quote using my dovecraft stamps using archival ink and then cut out the words separately. I used the edge of the archival ink pad on the edge of the words to add a subtle black border and then positioned them down the brick path.

As a finishing touch I cut out butterflies from scrapbook paper with my butterfly paper cutter and added them around the quote and bunny paws, adding metallic dots to the wings with my American Crafts metallic pens. I also added four butterfly stick embellishments to my pages.
