My quote this week is ‘I love to dance’ which I am sure has appeared in lots of different songs, one being Nicki Minaj’s song ‘Starships’
For my background I drew the whole background as a dancefloor to go with the quote. I used a black promarker and a ruler to draw the lines and then colored the squares in alternating colors with Staedtler coloring pens. I then painted a black wavy border over both of the pages using liquitex black paint. I then used my American Crafts music stamp with black archival ink over parts of the background and then stamped stars using Tim Holtz star stamps in blank spaces.
For my main page I drew two shoes with my Graphix black pen on watercolor paper, and then drew two other shoes smaller than the big ones to go inbetween them . I then decorated them with hearts and stars. I used my aqua spectrum watercolor pens and added lots of water while drying it with my heat gun to create a special effect. I then colored in the stars and hearts with my blue and silver paperchase glitter pens and then used my graphix black pen back over the outline of the stars and hearts to make them stand out even more.
For my quote page I drew three hearts, one large, one medium and one small. I used my black graphix pen with a ruler to draw the lines and colored inside the squares with blue, red, orange and silver paperchase glitter pens. I then positioned them together and outlined them with my promarker pen, joining them all together with a big outline. For my quote I drew lines with a ruler using my promarker pens on a piece of watercolor paper with the edges cut off and then colored in the squares with my American crafts metallic purple and silver pens. I then painted a piece of watercolor paper with art deco pink paint and stamped the quote on with my dovecraft letter stamps using black archival ink. I cut out the words individually and outlined them with a black pen, creating a slanted border around the words. I then glued the quote onto the background and outlined the quote with black promarker pen.
As a finishing touch I took my blue, orange, red and silver paperchase pens and colored a piece of watercolor paper with the pens. I then used my butterfly paper cutter to cut out butterfly’s and glued them into empty spaces around the page.
